The West Texas Electrical JATC is one of many local training centers associated with the Electrical Training Alliance (Formerly known as the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee or NJATC). The Electrical Training Alliance was established over 70 years ago through a collaboration between the IBEW and NECA when it was determined that training was essential to the future of our industry.
The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers(IBEW) have spent decades developing the finest electrical apprenticeship program in the world. This program is composed of on-the-job training and classroom instruction, both of equal importance in the development of competent journeymen wiremen.
Our program’s exclusivity and high standards mean that selected apprentices have a unique responsibility to maximize this golden opportunity. The Apprenticeship Training Program is overseen by an eight-member Board of Trustees/Committee Members from within the electrical industry. They are Representatives, Owners or Officers of Electrical Contracting Companies and/or Representatives of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 479.

The North Texas Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), to comprise the largest, most comprehensive electrical Journeyman and Apprentice training programs available in this country.

El Paso Electricians JATC

The El Paso Electricians JATC is a federal and state-registered apprenticeship program that requires each Apprentice Inside Wireman to complete 900 classroom hours as well as 8000 on-the-job training hours. Once an apprentice is accepted into the program and indentured, they are placed to work with one of our participating contractors.
A Journeyman Wireman ensures that the apprentice is receiving proper on-the-job training. The apprentice is also required to attend related classroom training for at least 6 hours a week in order to complete the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee’s Apprentice Inside Wireman course of study.
The El Paso Electricians JATC is a joint venture of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 583 and the El Paso Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and was established to develop and maintain the best-trained workforce in the Electrical Industry. This apprenticeship program offers the opportunity to earn wages and benefits while learning the skills necessary for a challenging and rewarding career as a Journeyman Inside Wireman.
Also, EPJATC provides upgrade training to IBEW/NECA members to sharpen their skills and to constantly keep them abreast of the latest technological changes in this fast-paced, rapidly changing industry.

Since 1946 we have been the standard-bearer of trade education excellence. A true “earn while you learn” program. Apprentices gain trade skills, knowledge, and licensure through both “On the Job Training” and structured classroom training, all while earning outstanding wages and excellent benefits.
In a five-year program, apprentices attend class two days a month from September through June. Students work under full-time employment, gaining valuable trade experience. Upon completion, apprentices will have a minimum of 8,000 on-the-job hours, 900 classroom hours, and a State of Texas Electrical License. Student’s also receive college credit through A.C.E.

IBEW LU 1015 in South Texas was received its charter from President Edwin D. Hill on August 12, 2002 with Chartered members Rene Aguilar, Henry Cockerill, Hermenegildo Guitierrez, Miguel Mejia, Fabian Parodi, Pedro Ramirez, Sergio A. Salinas, Armando Sanchez, Venustiano Botello, Rigoberto Corona, Pedro Lopez, Javier Nunez, Wenceslao Pedraza, Jonathan E. Robles, Jesus Sallas, Enrique Silva, Alfredo Calderon, Isidro Gonzalez, Juan Marez, Armando Ozuna Jr., Eric Perez, Timothy Romero, Jesse Sanchez established in Weslaco, Texas.
Local 1015 showcases the prowess of IBEW construction workers across Texas’s southernmost counties, a region pivotal to our state’s economy. Despite the area’s modest wage baseline, our vibrant construction sector exceeds $1 billion annually, highlighting a prime landscape for growth and opportunity, as emphasized by District International Rep. Ralph Merriweather.
President Hill and Secretary-Treasurer Jerry O’Connor welcomed 200 members at the August 12, 2002 ceremony.
Seventh District Vice-President Jonathan Gardner said the IBEW would help improve the lives of workers. “We want this local to be a vehicle to bring economic justice to electrical workers and also the greater community in South Texas.”
IBEW LU 1015 stands with pride as the youngest Local Union with IBEW. We are here to write a new chapter in the history of the electrical industry in South Texas to maintain a visible challenge and offer continuous education for electrical workers within our area in training them with TDLR rules and regulations; have the capabilities to perform required expertise to our signatory contractors in residential, commercial and industrial projects. Contractor in our area or visiting to build have commented their appreciation for providing hard working men to complete projects.
