Established in 1944, our NECA-IBEW Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee has set the standard in electrical training. As Indiana’s first Department of Labor-registered electrical apprenticeship, we’ve been at the forefront of equipping individuals with the skills needed to excel in the evolving electrical industry.

Our enduring commitment is to the vision of our founders: to empower the members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association. This dedication ensures the electrical construction industry benefits from a workforce that is not only highly trained but also exceptionally skilled.

We are co-sponsored by the National Electrical Contractors Association, Southern Indiana Chapter, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 16. Through apprenticeship, these organizations are raising the skill level of individuals who are performing electrical work in Southern Indiana by providing a training program that will keep pace with the changing technologies of the day.

WE ARE THE FORT WAYNE ELECTRICAL JOINT APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINING COMMITTEE

We train apprentice students for the electrical construction industry. The Fort Wayne Electrical JATC trains students to become either an Inside Wireman Electrician or a Telecommunication Installer-Technician.

We are a local training center that trains apprentices in the electrical construction industry following the electrical training. ALLIANCE’s education standards to meet the competitive challenges of today’s global market economy.

In addition to receiving skill training on the job, each apprentice is provided with trade-related classroom training that produces competency and pride that lead to true craftsmanship.

Apprentices collaborating with Ivy Tech Community College, who also complete our specialized curriculum, are awarded an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Apprenticeship Technology, marking a significant milestone in their career advancement.

Recognized as one of the nation’s premier training centers for the union construction industry, the Electrical Training Institute is a joint venture of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481 and the National Electrical Contractors Association.

Welcome to the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee in Terre Haute, Indiana. Serving fifteen counties across east central Illinois and west-central Indiana, we are proud to develop the finest electricians in the trade, ensuring our communities benefit from expertly trained professionals.

Our program provides a top-notch electrical program through classroom study and on-the-job training that leads to an Associates’ degree. We are a Registered Apprenticeship with the Department of Labor, and we offer a five-year study for commercial/industrial Inside 

Journeymen and a three-year program for Residential Wiremen. The core training is completely self-funded through our NECA contractors and IBEW local union #725. After completing the program, our apprentices become Journeyman, which is a status that is recognized throughout the country. Because of their training, our electricians perform safe and professional installations, have a mastery of the electrical code and OSHA regulations, and work efficiently to do a job “Right the First Time.”

David qualified as a Master Electrician in 2009, after working as a Journeyman for 3 years. David has over 20 years experience working as an electrician. He loves troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and coaching the next generation of apprentice electricians. In his spare time David enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
